1. The importance of pre-shrinkage
After the fabric is sewn into a garment, if it is not pre-shrinked, it may become unstable in size due to washing or temperature changes, which will affect the quality and appearance of the garment. Therefore, pre-shrinkage is an indispensable part of the clothing fabric processing process. Our company attaches great importance to this link and ensures that the fabric size is more stable during subsequent processing and use through advanced pre-shrinkage technology.
2. Pre-shrinkage methods and processes
Our company has its own R&D laboratory and the most advanced weaving and testing equipment in the industry. These equipment not only support us in high-quality product development and production, but also provide strong technical support for pre-shrinkage. The following are specific pre-shrinkage methods and processes:
Before cutting, unpack and shake the fabric, and park it for a certain period of time without stacking and tension. For cotton knitted fabrics, after calendering or shaping, they should be left for more than 24 hours to allow the fabric to shrink naturally and eliminate tension.
Various types of elastic band materials and other auxiliary materials must also be shaken, relaxed, and left for more than 24 hours before use to ensure stable shrinkage.
For materials with large shrinkage rates or clothing with high quality requirements, the materials used must be fully shrunk before cutting.
Woven cotton and linen cloth and cotton and linen chemical fiber cloth can be directly soaked in clean water and then spread out to dry. The soaking time depends on the type of material and the size of the shrinkage rate.
For sizing fabrics, it is necessary to use methods such as scrubbing and stirring to remove the sizing so that the water can fully enter the fiber, which is conducive to the moisture absorption and shrinkage of the fabric.
The "shrinkage" treatment of woolen fabrics can be done by spraying water to dry (worsted fabrics) or covering with a wet cloth and ironing until slightly dry (coarse fabrics). The ironing temperatures are 160℃ and 180℃ respectively.
Auxiliary materials with large shrinkage rates such as yarn ribbons, ribbons, inlays, lace, etc. also need to be treated with the same "shrinkage".
For some fabrics with large shrinkage under temperature, heat pre-shrinkage can be used to alleviate the thermal stress inside the fabric.
The temperature and time of heat pre-shrinkage should generally be lower than the setting temperature and time to ensure that the fabric will not be excessively damaged during the pre-shrinkage process.
